A major highway in one Eastern Carolina county will remain closed until tomorrow morning because of a traffic accident.
State troopers say a tractor trailer full of wood chips overturned on Highway 11, north of Kenansville.
The wood chips have to be emptied out before they can turn the big rig back upright and move it off the highway. The D.O.T. says the highway, between Wards Bridge Road and Woodland Church Road, will be closed until 8:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Troopers say the driver came up too fast on a construction crew that was repaving the highway. The trucker decided to put his truck in a ditch, instead of hitting the work crew.
The driver, who troopers say was slipping in and out of consciousness, was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
