Log Truck Wreck Closes Highway In Duplin County

A collision between a log truck and a car closed a highway in Duplin County for most of the morning on Tuesday.

Highway 11 North was closed in both directions east of Kenansville near Highway 111.

Troopers say a car pulled out in front of a log truck. The driver of the car was not hurt, but the truck driver, Douglas Whaley, was airlifted to New Havover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

The Highway Patrol says Whaley was seriously injured after his log truck flipped, spilling logs everywhere.

It took about 4-1/2 hours to clean up the logs, while troopers have charged the car's driver, Matthew Asbill, with unsafe movement.
