Lawmen Suspect Alcohol In Fatal Crash

Lawmen say alcohol may be to blame in a fatal crash over the weekend. Highway Patrol Sergeant C.L. Johnston say Wayne Allen Harper, 47, died Saturday evening when he lost control on Davis Field Road. It happened around 7:45 p.m. about 6.5 miles south of Trenton in Jones County.

Sgt. Johnston says Harper was coming out of a turn when he strayed across the center line, ran off the road, and rolled his car in a ditch. Harper was not wearing a seat belt. No other vehicles were involved.

The Jones County Sheriff's Office says the vehicle Harper was driving was reported stolen to the Maysville Police Department.
