FIRST ON WITN: More Charges Possible In Pharmacy Robbery Attempt

Deputies say they may upgrade charges against a may who is accused of trying to holdup a pharmacy Wednesday.

Ryan Mullins is charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault by pointing a gun.

The attempted robbery happened around 12:40 p.m. at Allen Drugs in Pollocksville. The pharmacist, Billy Allen, says he was pushed down during the crime.

Deputies say Allen is now in the hospital due to those injuries and he will be there at least until Saturday.

The 20-year-old Mullins is jailed on a $50,000 bond.

About 12:40 Wednesday afternoon, the Jones County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at Allen Drugs in Pollocksville in reference to an attempted armed robbery.

Deputies were told a man wearing a motorcycle helmet and brandishing a firearm entered the business and demanded prescription narcotics. Deputies say the owner of the business was shoved to the ground by the suspect who fled before he could get the drugs.

Deputies and Troopers and Jones County searched nearly 2 hours and found 20 year old Ryan Mullins near Mill Creek Road in Pollocksville. Deputies recovered multiple items the suspect had cast off during his flight, including his t-shirt, motorcycle, cell phone and motorcycle helmet.

Ryan Mullins of Swansboro is charged with Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault by Pointing a Gun. Mullins was booked into the Jones County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.

Authorities say a man they believe tried to rob a pharmacy this afternoon in Jones County has been arrested.

Allen Drugs in Pollocksville was the scene of the attempted hold-up that happened around 12:45 p.m.

The suspect is 20 year old Ryan Mullins.

Sheriff Danny Heath says his deputies and the Highway Patrol were searching the area off Mill Creek Road when troopers came across the suspect.

"When I say zero tolerance, I mean just that: zero tolerance," said Sheriff Heath. "Robbing a pharmacy is criminal activity that will not be tolerated in this county. We're not playing around, here."

Lawmen are investigating the attempted robbery of a pharmacy in Jones County.

Deputies say someone tried to rob Allen Drugs in Pollocksville around 12:45 p.m.

The pharmacist tells WITN News that the robber jumped over the counter and demanded from him something that he didn't understand. The robber knocked the pharmacist down and then ran out. It doesn't appear the robber got anything in the holdup.

The pharmacist says he believed the man had a gun.
