Four days after a meth lab sent a deputy to the hospital- that deputy is ready to get back to work. Leila Groom was part of the Jones County Sheriff's Office team that busted a meth lab this weekend on the county line at a single wide trailer on Cobb Road in Jones County.
Deputies started out with a simple warrant for one man at that home. Investigators say they smelled pot, got a search warrant, then went to look for the drugs. Once inside, deputies say they found the makings of a meth lab. Just as they went to call for the State Bureau of Investigation to come in- there was a small explosion.
"There was a little container with an unknown type of liquid in it, and it just- the bottle just completely popped off and the mobile home completely filled up with what appeared to be a white cloud of smoke," said Deputy Groom.
Groom 's consciousness was foggy. She was immediately taken to the hospital. Breathing in some of those fumes was very dangerous, but quick work by fellow deputies got Groom treatment quickly.
Three men were arrested as a result of that lab bust: Walter Herring, Christopher Price, and Brandon Humphreys..
