Jones Co. Administrator Named Principal Of The Year

A high school administrator has been named 'Principal of the Year', nearly 20 years after he graduated from the same school.

The North Carolina Association of Educators recently named Chris Meadows of Jones Senior High School 'Principal of the Year.'

Meadows graduated from the high school in 1996 and then got his degree from East Carolina University.

He taught physical education in Jones County at Pollocksville Elementary for a couple of years, then became Assistant Principal at the high school in 2009.

Meadows is now in his third year as principal of about 300 students.

Meadows says, "The biggest thing is developing relationships with students. Letting students know you love them , you care about them and also with our staff just let the know we're supportive and I'm going to be there for them. I think that's been one of our biggest keys to our success is that our students know we care about them. There's nothing they can't do."

Meadows was also named 'Principal of the Year' by Jones County Public Schools in 2013.
