Big Hurdle For Track Team: Hurdles Stolen

Members of the Jones County Senior track team have another big hurdle this coming season. The problem is, the team has no hurdles to jump over.

Deputies say someone has stolen 50 track hurdles from the high school in Trenton. They're worth $5,000.

The hurdles were noticed missing after the coach returned from being out sick. They are black and white Fisher-brand hurdles. Deputies are contacting metal scrap yards and recycling centers throughout the area to make sure they are on alert for the stolen hurdles.

Anyone with information on the theft should call the Jones County Sheriff's Office at 252-448-7091.

Exactly who needs 50 hurdles besides another school? What good are these stolen hurdles to the average schmuck...ya can't put 'em in the yard? Who ya gonna sell 'em to that it won't alert the cops? Crooks are dumb but these are a little dumber.

Should make them out of concrete. Its a pretty stupid sport anyway. Reserved for kids that their mother will not let them play football.

Ever heard of the "Olympics"?...BTW, football is NOT the only sport. Some people feel that football is a sport for brainless jocks. ...but, I'm guessing you were being funny with your comment.

This is so sad. How sad must you be to steal from children. Yes, it is a high school but they are still children. God will avenge this. I only wish I had the $5,000 to replace them myself.
