Gas Prices Down In North Carolina, But Not For Long

Gas prices continued to drop in North Carolina, but that will likely soon change after the first of the year.

GasBuddy.com says the average retail price in the state has dropped 1.3 cents per gallon in the past week, to $3.22 a gallon. That's slightly below the national average of $3.23, which actually went up almost a penny over the last week.

That decrease will probably be short lived. A week from now the state's gas tax will jump by almost 4 cents a gallon, to a record 38.9 cents. This comes after state lawmakers couldn't agree on a proposal that would have capped the state's gas tax at 35 cents.

Ummmm raise taxes on gas 3-4 cents per Bev Purdue to pay for road construction, the Repugs cry foul! Take away the Payroll Taxes for the Middle Class and give the Wealthy a tax break, the Repugs cheer, and post all day! WHATS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

Barrack Obama is contributing to high gasoline prices by insisting on the USA using green energy. Next president needs an energy policy that will help lower the gasoline prices for the middle class and for all Americans.

Absolutely . You know the tax paying working person has to pay the inflated salaries and pensions of the political hacks. Don't ask any questions, none of your business, just keep on keeping on and pay for these political hacks retirement. Happens at all levels of government but the local political hacks try and deflect criticism and questions by whining about and pointing their finger at Washington when worse is going on locally. Vote them all out.

Just another example of the democratic legacy of NC's doing. They left a terd as usual. It will take a long time to undo the damages the dems did to this state. At least the new comers balanced the budget with a surplus....

President Obama's failed energy policy is what has contributed to such miserably high gasoline prices during his entire term as president.

$1.80 per gallon when the Barrack Obama regime took over now $3.20 per gallon for gasoline. Numbers don't lie.

You're numbers are just plain wrong! Gas has not been $1.80 long before 2008 when Obama took office(more like $2.90--maybe more)...but if you feel better blaming him personally for every problem this country has then go ahead...won't change the kind of person you are!

Maybe if Bush hadn't left such a crappy economy we woudn't have high gas prices. Now that's a fact you can stand behind. Bush ruined the economy for what will likely be several decades.

Tell that to GM and the Airline industry, and to the millions of Americans who had to decide weather to buy gas or food in 2007 and 2008. How soon you forget.

I'm the kind of person who will vote for a president that is doing everything he/she can do to lower gasoline prices.

No, but they can be misleading. Which is exactly what is being done when one says that Obama's responsible for higher gas prices.

The failed energy policy of Barrack Obama has a direct impact on the price of gasoline for all American drivers, it also negatively effect the high cost of food at the grocery store for middle class Americans trying to feed their families.

There is a difference between being a community organizer, where you can conjole businesses and individual to do what you want, and leading people to do what is good for the country.
