An elderly Mount Olive man was killed this morning when troopers say his vehicle was hit head on by a log truck.
Troopers say James Barwick died in the 9:20 a.m. accident on Summerlins Crossroads Road near Kenansville.
Trooper D.M. Rich says the 72-year-old Barwick was northbound when he crossed the centerline and was struck by the empty logging truck.
The log truck driver had no visible injuries and the Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the fatal wreck.
