A Duplin County man has been found guilty in the April 2010 shooting death of his girlfriend last year.
Officials say a 45-year-old Carlus Dwight Langston was sentenced to at least 12 years in prison Friday after a jury found him guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Beverly Knowles.
Authorities say Langston was at Knowles' Beulaville house when they began to argue. The argument moved into the bedroom where the 45-year-old Knowles was fatally shot in the neck and chest with a handgun.
Police arrested Langston about two hours later after Knowles' son called authorities. Langston told investigators he was struggling with Knowles when the gun went off.
