Duplin County Highway Reopens After Log Truck Accident

A highway was shut down for more than four hours today after a log truck accident.

Highway 41 at Highway 111 was closed in both directions after the 9:50 a.m. wreck in Duplin County.

Troopers say the crash involved a log truck and a van. The two people in the van were taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, while the truck driver wasn't hurt.

The driver of the van, 48-year-old Michael Ferguson of Richlands is charged with failure to yield the right of way after troopers say he turned left from Highway 111 onto 41, and into the path of the log truck.

Troopers say the van was hit virtually head on by the log truck.

The highway reopened around 2:20 p.m.
