POLICE: "Career Offender" Caught After Nearly a Dozen Break-In's Within 2 Months

After nearly a dozen break-in's between two counties, deputies and police said they found the man who has been burglarizing area businesses since July.

Beulaville Police Chief, Joey Carter, says Arthur Dean was arrested Wednesday around 11 a.m. after his father was able to identify him in evidence presented by officers and deputies.

Chief Carter said Dean has broken into seven businesses in Duplin County alone after shattering the front doors then stealing money.

Carter said Dean has been caught on camera in a few areas, and a Wayne County deputy recognized him from similar crimes in that county.

"He's got a long criminal history," said Chief Carter. "He's been in and out of prison his whole life- a career offender you might say."

Carter said in each break in, there were no injuries and the businesses were closed at the time of the crime.

In a more recent break-in, officers said Dean was caught on camera taking a safe from a U.S. Cellular store in Duplin County.

Dean's bond was set at $60,000. He is due in court for a first appearance on Friday.

Online court records do not indicate when Dean is due in court for a first appearance on the new charges against him.

More charges are expected to be filed by a neighboring county, according to authorities.
