Charges are pending after the crash on Highway 17 in Jones County this morning.
The driver was sent to the hospital to be checked out after the wreck between Pollocksville and Maysville that happened around 7:25 a.m. Troopers say the driver, whose name has not been released yet, drove off the road to the right, over corrected to the left and hit a ditch. The sedan then flipped upside down into a ditch with a couple of inches of standing water.
Troopers say both the driver and passenger got out of the car on their own. It's not clear why the driver went off the road, and charges are pending. Traffic slowed for a while after the crash.
