Police Department Mourns Loss Of Officer

A police department in Eastern Carolina is mourning the loss of one of its officers.

Kirk Newkirk, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department, died Sunday. Chief Mike Webster says Newkirk suffered a massive heart attack Sunday while playing golf with some friends at Camp Lejeune.

Newkirk, who was just 43-years-old, was a twenty year law enforcement veteran. He had been with the Warsaw police since November of last year.
