People will have the opportunity to learn more about and sound off on the proposed Kinston Bypass in Lenoir, Jones and Craven Counties.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is hosting two workshops in Kinston this week.
The Kinston Bypass is approximately 12 miles in length along US 70 near LaGrange to near Dover. The NC DOT says the plan is to build a four-lane divided freeway. The project's cost is estimated at $181,000,000.

Tuesday's meeting is from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. inside the cafeteria of Kinston High School. Thursday's meeting is from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Kinston Public Service Complex, 2360 US Highway 258 South in Kinston.
The NC DOT says the Kinston Bypass is necessary to stop traffic capacity deficiencies along US 70 and US 70 Bypass in Lenoir County. The way it is now, officials say high traffic volumes combined with no control of access and closely-spaced intersections often result in stop and go rush hour traffic.
Officials say a bypass around Kinston also works into plans to speed the drive from Raleigh to Morehead City.
