Willie Nelson Concert Cancelled, Band Members Issued Citations

Willie Nelson's band members were issued citations Thursday night in Duplin County.

The State Alcohol Law Enforcement Division cited some of his band members for possession of moonshine and a misdemeanor amount of marijuana.

Willie Nelson was set to perform in Duplin County Thursday night, but his management said he was sick and could not perform.

According to Willie Nelson's website, the performance was cancelled because Nelson's hand was in too much pain to play the guitar. Doctors told him to rest. The site goes on to say the show is currently being rescheduled.

Nelson was not present at the time his band members were issued the citation.

I'm NOT smart enough to figure out all this. But, man, why automatically lump GOOD FOLKS who want the law to be A LITTLE BIT FLEXIBLE into the same "evil / pro-drug" category? (Some people here are so inflexible, it's nonsensical. Like Fred G. Sanford used to say, "You Big Dummy." :)) Willie's band/crew are all old geezers --roaddog musicians, if you will -- who made their life's choices, long long long ago. Save a teenager from drugs, I totally agree. BUT THE GREATER GOOD SHOULD'VE BEEN NOT DESTROYING THE EVENTS CENTER. For a nip of 'shine and less than a pinch of weed? I just hate to see the dominoes fall the way they have. Duplin County and ENC loses out in the end.

I think the real issue is the question about wheather the ALE is above the law. I believe they violated the rule structure "probable cause" which is basically the leg they are standing on on this issue. There was no reason to aproach the motor coaches in the begining. They rolled the dice and said "pretty sure we will find something" they did and charged every one near with "owning" it. We were jumped on simply for setting in the car out of the cool wind waiting for the doors to open. NO probable cause existed and we had nothing and were doing nothing wrong, just another crap shoot that did not work out for the ALE. As most foks that were there I did not have a clue you could not tailgate before the concert with alchol in your possesion I just fortunately did not have any. I was drinking Dasani water which really seemed to piss those guys off. I was smoking Camel lights which really seemed to piss those guys off. They put us through the wringer and we came out DRY! Good luck to Willie!

Willie is now at my home in Dallas, resting up. He played the other night and he is feeling fine. He is awaiting here with his family until the court date in early April

These men go to court on April 21, 2010. We are ALL watching to see what going to happen to them. Are they "above the law"? What if this what you or me charged? An attorney from Sampson County will be representing them.........

Try saving & protecting Americans by getting pedophiles, scam artists, rapists and such off the streets! Mr. Nelson has spent most of his life entertaining the people and dedicating his time to music and humanity causes!

More shining brilliance thanks to Our Sacred Protectors! Such wonderful, intelligent, "boys in blue" in Kenansville and Wilmington we have! Key sentence in article: "However, recent events, including the same-day cancellation of a Willie Nelson concert and the anticipated recommendation by the Duplin County sheriff at the next commission meeting to ban quinceaneras and alcohol sales at the Duplin County Events Center, led VenuWorks to make the difficult decision to leave the account on June 30, 2010." /// "VenuWorks Decides to Leave Duplin Events Center" /// http://www.clintonnc.com/view/full_story/6489467/article-VenuWorks-decides-to-leave-Duplin-Events-Center-?
