This has been an extraordinary day for traffic accidents. 1st SGT CHP hit the nail on the head: every driver must drive defensively. Always presume the worst is going to happen; that driver over there will run the red light; this one passing will cut me off; etc. When you drive defensively, YOU are in charge of your own fate. If you don't drive defensively, you're letting other people be in charge of your fate.

to CHP, in n.c., if the truck that was passing was passing in a passing zone BEFORE the truck it was passing was making it's turn , then the truck turning left would be at fault for failing to yield or see before starting it's turn. i don't know if the other truck was speeding when passing but given the area, it is a laid back community. thanks good to have a blue line brother on the comments. stay safe my friend

Possible the ford may be at fault. Don't know to much abt the laws here, but you be supprised. That's why you have to drive defensive, and courteous, seen too many people in a big hurry, speeding, and talking on their phones not paying attention.

Maybe the Chevy should not have been in such a hurry that they did not notice the Ford was slowing down.

The truck should have used their signal lights.
