It appears to be a difficult future ahead for one health department in the east.
Jones County Health Officials said Monday at a commissioner meeting that without a primary-care provider available 40 hours a week, the department would likely not generate enough revenue to keep current staff levels.
Grace Clinic which shared staff with and was located at the Health Department in Trenton closed last week leaving self-pay patients who are under insured or uninsured with fewer medical provider options.
So a doctor familiar with the former Grace Clinic and the health care problems in Jones County has stepped in until a more permanent solution can be implemented.
Uninsured or under insured patients can also travel to New Bern and use the Merci Clinic, but Jones County Health Officials say that would be only a short term solution.
