Jails To Deport Illegal Immigrants

Five North Carolina counties are joining a program to deport illegal immigrants.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Thursday that eight counties helped deport more than 3,100 inmates last year.

Orange, Harnett, Duplin, New Hanover and Buncombe counties are joining a program called Secure Communities. It gives jails equipment that uses inmates' fingerprints to check immigration status and criminal records and automatically alerts immigration officials.

The program is similar to one used in eight counties that trains local officers to interview immigrants and begin deportation. The new program doesn't require extra training.

Duplin County Sheriff Blake Wallace says deputies won't be detaining people to get their fingerprints. He says he will use the program for people already in jail.

Come join www.alipac.com ;) Does everyone know that our NC State Employment Agency doesn't E-Verify any immigrants other than the MIGRATE FARMER WORKERS? In other words the State of North Carolina Agencies of Unemployment are sending illegal immigrants to our NC workplaces without E-Verifying, first.

I understand many of you's comments but there are also many hard working illegals out there that do pay taxes just like any us citizen and take care of there family with no help from the government such as my husband! He is an honest hardworking illegal immigrant whom I am so proud of! Needless to say it wasn't his fault his parents decided to bring him over here since he was 6. He is now Americanized. I am so glad God destined me with him. We now have a beautiful baby girl whom he named Mia. We have been dating since junior high which makes about 11 years and been married 5 years going to 6. He or I dind't ask for this it just happened. My father is originally from Mex and my mom is from USA. Yes my Dad did get over here illegal but then married my mom and she helped him get his greencard and they have been married for almost 20 years! And another thing if you were in there situation like where they come from you'd probably do the same thing. Anything for your family right!

What about born US citizens who have 5 or 6 children and put on the birth cert. Father unknown just to get 1000.00/mo in food stamps, get their rent paid and oh dont forget paid utilities. What about them? They can ride around in Cadillac Escalades and eat better than those of us who get up at 5am just to get dressed and go work a 12 hour shift. I think we should clean our own porch before blaming others for what is on our porch. America is always looking to blame others for things that are really our own fault. I pray that GOD has mercy on those who have so much hatred for his/her own brother. Yes for Immigration Reform, No for Racism!!!!!!!

I agree that immigration is linked to our economy. It's the reason we're in the mess we're in. This problem goes way beyond illegal immigration. It's an invasion of our country and it creates a serious problem for taxpayers. We are footing the bills for people who are violating our laws. Providing WIC, foodstamps, housing, medical care and free education to illegals and their offspring is costing us billions. Now the chickens have come home to roost. We are being taken advantage off and it has to stop. No reform is needed. We have good laws; just lack of political will to enforce them. Illegals use their children and exploit them to get what they want. They knew when they came here and made the decision to have not one, but five children, there was a chance they could get caught and face deportation. Then they want to cry that we are tearing their families apart. When legal citizens commit crimes, I don't hear anyone saying they shouldn't be punished because they have children. Deport!

Unfortunately immigration is closely linked to our economy and by the way some of the working parents we are sending to other countries are leaving their AMERICAN CITIZEN kids to fend for themselves (not a great idea). The solution to Illegal immigration is not as simple as simple as it seems. I'm not saying that sending people caught committing crimes in the USA shouldn't be send to their countries. I think what we really need is an immigration reform that would take care of all the issues in a organized and strategic way. We are face today with not only the immigration challenge but also the economic one which we need to solve simultaneously, because while is great to imposed stronger penalties for companies that hire undocumented workers at the same time the only thing is keeping some of these companies alive is the fact that they can somehow compete with say China or India or Taiwan because of the affordable labor. Take that away and they’’ either close or move somewhere else, a

For the comment of "NAFTA" you got the wrong treaty. NAFTA has nothing to do with China and your lead toys.

That's wonderful. And I hope it catches on. I strongly feel this should be the standard in all NC counties...and nationwide.

Alright pitt county, lets fall in line and get our act together and dispose of all the illegal immigration we all know we have around here. Between washington and greenville we can keep the buses rolling back and forth from ole meico as they say.

This is the best news I have heard all day. I think I will bring this subject up with my county commissioners and the sheriff. I think we should join this program as well. Where is the Blog refluter..or..er..the honorable Flogger to spin us a tale about these poor unfortunates that we of course are supposed to feel sorry for and give citizenship to. I look forward to a good fantasy yarn, flogger.
