Boil Water Advisory

Jones County Water System experienced a 6” main water line break along Hwy 58 in the Maysville area due to a flooded creek crossing.
Now officials have announced a boil water advisory for everyone in the area.

Officials say that area includes the town of Maysville, all of Hwy 58 South, Great Lake Road and Hunters Creek Road located in Jones County.

Work crews will be working through the evening to reestablish water to the effected areas.

Jones County Emergency Management has secured emergency Bottled Water for those that are out of water. It is expected to be at the Town Hall in Maysville by 8 pm tonight. Pick up locations for bottled water will be at Davis Chapel Church on Hunters Creek Road in the Long Point area and at the Maysville Town Hall.

Say what you will, but... Ever since 2001 I've been afraid of "city" water. You never know just how good it really is. It could be contaminated and you'd never know until it's too late. I still bathe/shower in it and wash clothes/dishes with it...but now I use bottled (gallons) of distilled water for things like food and drink (esp. coffee & tea). I've found it makes beverages taste better as well. (in food stuffs, I can't tell any difference, but I sleep better at night ☺). I'm not being an alarmist, but I would advise people to check their water quality periodically. I've found it's cheaper and more logical just to buy bottled water. Say your water WAS contaminated...you'd then need to buy bottled water. If I have it on hand already, so I'm all set. I keep 6-8 bottles on hand at all times....right next to my rabbit's foot, under the horseshoe on the wall. (points up, of course) lol
