Saturday Is National Take-Back Day

Several towns across Eastern Carolina are participating in "National Take-Back Day" Saturday, a national drive to collect and safely dispose of unused and expired prescription drugs.

People can anonymously drop off any old drugs. This is an effort to keep them out of the water supply where regular treatment might not remove them as well as keep homes safer for small children and remove the availability for abuse by minors.

Some of the areas participating include:

Washington. The collection will take place from 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. at the police department at 201 W. 3rd Street.

Jones County: The collection will take place from 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. at Trenton Volunteer Fire Department, 105 Cherry Street. Pollocksville Volunteer Fire Department, 208 Second Street. Maysville Volunteer Fire Department, 404 Main Street.

Greenville: The collection will take place from 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. at Pitt-Greenville Crime Stoppers Telethon located at Suddenlink Communication across from J.H. Rose High School on Arlington Blvd.

Rocky Mount: The collection will take place from 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. at Sam's Club at Highway 301 and Sunset Avenue.

New Bern: The collection will take place from 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. at Realo Discount Drugs located 2117 S. Glenburnie Rd.
