It is no fun to be outside in this heat, let alone to work outdoors, but that's what many are doing.
In Craven County Friday we ran into construction workers laying concrete and firefighters battling blazes in their heavy gear.
Workers we spoke to said three things will help you survive in this heat: Hats, water, and sports drinks.
The construction workers also adjusted their schedule to beat the heat. They started at sunrise. They also say they wear hats with wide brims to help beat the heat and drink as much water as possible.
And how about fighting a fire in this heat! Firemen in New Bern took turns fighting a house fire that broke out around 11:30 Friday morning.
No firefighters suffered any health problems due to the heat and fighting the blaze.
The construction crews say they plan to adjust their schedules again for Monday due to the expected forecast.
