Private deals are underway between land owners and wind farm companies to place five hundred foot wind turbines in Pamlico County.
County Manager Tim Buck says county officials have developed a tall structure ordinance that will eventually go to a public hearing.
County manager Tim Buck says wind farms would bring millions of dollars to the county. Buck says, "First and foremost the tax base, my understanding is one wind farm is approximately a million dollars, just one tower, so you look at fifty to one hundred that is a significant tax base for Pamlico County,"
The ordinance being introduced will include set back, noise and height restrictions.
The specific area companies are looking at is open space North of Highway 55 and East of Highway 306.
