NEW INFO: Vehicle Crashes Into New Bern Business

The driver of an SUV will be charged after her vehicle crashed into a New Bern business this afternoon.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. at the corner of Wellons Boulevard and Newman Road, that's behind the mall.

The vehicle crashed into the front doors of RSM McGladrey, an accounting firm.

Police say Rose Gonzalez told them she blacked out. Her SUV took out one column of the building, along with the glass front doors. It landed between a second column and the front entrance.

Police say the 59-year-old New Bern woman will be charged with unsafe movement. The fire department said there was just cosmetic damage and the accounting firm will be able to continue to occupy the building.

If she did black out and cause this type of crash in that low speed area, she needs to have a medical evaluation to determine whether or not she should drive, until her 'condition' is resolved.
