An SUV was found ablaze in the Craven County town of Vanceboro this morning. Authorities now say the vehicle was reported stolen.
Officials told WITN the crossover SUV was found on fire around 5:15 a.m. at the intersection of First Ave. and New St. in Vanceboro. The car was parked on the grass next to a house directly behind Wells Fargo on Main St. No one was found in or near the vehicle. The vehicle's license plate was nowhere to be found.
Fire crews got the fire extinguished within 15 minutes.
Emergency Management says the SUV was reported stolen from Trent Woods around 6:00 a.m. They say they owner woke up and found his car missing and called police.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
