Strong Winds Down Trees Into Craven County Home, Car

Wednesday night winds created a harrowing experience for families in the gated community of Fairfield Harbor in Craven County. On Caracara Drive, a tree slammed through the roof of a couple's home. Neighbors say the homeowners are fine, but are lucky because they were right in the damaged area 20 minutes before the tree came down. A few blocks away a family is stranded as a tree crashed onto their car.

"We just huddled together in the bathroom and just prayed that we were alive after this happened. It was very scary. It was dark, there was lightning. It sounded like a train came through. We thought we were goners," said Bryana Webster

Webster is thankful she and her 4 kids are safe after the huge tree landed just feet away from where the family took cover. However, branches and tree trunks are piled on top of her only way in and out of the neighborhood.
