Law enforcement in Craven County remembered two fallen officers during a memorial service Wednesday.
Several people spoke about how vital officers are to protect our communities and the risk they take each day.
The two officers honored were First Sergeant Carl Ellis who died on May 29th, 1960, and the most recent -- 33-year-old detective Donald Miller who was shot and killed while off duty when he confronted a man driving recklessly in a Wilmington hospital parking lot.
Miller was at the hospital to be with his wife who was a patient.
He died on Christmas Day 2001.
