The Moral Monday protests that we saw in Raleigh in recent months are coming to Eastern Carolina.
NC NAACP President Rev. William Barber was in New Bern Friday to announce plans for the protest there on Monday, October 21st.
Barber says, "Our goal is to bring it home and say, this is what they passed in Raleigh and this is how it's going to impact you at home. When you say 500, 000 people lost access to Medicaid, that's the general number. But when you come to Craven County, that means over 3,000 people in your county, that's a different reality."
The group received an activity permit for the event in New Bern, which will be at Kafer Park at 5:00 p.m.
Lt. Ronda Allen with New Bern Police says, the permit allows for between 2,500 and 3,500 people.
