Report: BRAC Planned For As Early As 2013

For military communities, the acronym BRAC, can mean a lot of stress and according to the Havelock News another round of it could be coming soon.

BRAC which stands for "Base Realignment and Closure" has taken place five times in the past and according to the paper could take place again as early as 2013.

The paper reports that the Allies for Cherry Point's Tomorrow lobby group is reorganizing to help protect the base in Havelock. This isn't the first time the group has taken action. They formed in response to the last round of realignment in 2005.

I am a retired vet and there is way to much waste in the military. We need to focus on our country, not lining defense contractors pockets!

Spot on post!! However, the contractors have so many politicians in their pocket, it will be impossible to get it where it needs to be!! So much waste in procurement, use, distribution, etc. etc. If we could bar lobbyist influence/PAC influence we might be able to right size our defense!!

I have top agree with Presidential candidate Ron Paul, let's shut down all of those military bases" overseas and post our troops back home....there should be NO base closings on US soil.....just on foreign soil. BRING OUR TROOPS HOME! STRENGTHEN OUR BORDERS!
