Colleen Roberts, Public Information Officer for the City of New Bern, says power should be restored any minute. Roberts says a fuse melted, which officials say often happens when there is a lot of power being used during cold temperatures.
Around 8:15 a.m., Roberts reported the fuse had been replaced and power was restored. However, she says the power then went out again. Roberts says officials believe there may be a problem with a cable. Fixing that issue will take longer than replacing the fuse did. However, Roberts estimated it would take a few hours to restore power once again.
It wasn't clear how many people are without power.
