A pool in the east is being filled in as a safety precaution.
The pool behind the Days Inn at Five Points in New Bern was being filled with dirt and sand by city crews Tuesday.
The bank that is holding the loan on the property that is in foreclosure is working with the city to fill the potential hazard.
Mark Stephens of New Bern's public works department says this is something they wanted to do for awhile. "Being that the pool now has become neglected for so long it actually needs to be taken care of because it is a safety concern."
The city is using dirt and sand to fill the pool because it makes it possible for the pool to be reused in the future.
The bank holding the loan will be sent the bill from the city, for the work.
