Police say DNA samples are being analyzed as part of the investigation into the report of a teenage girl being raped at a city recreation center.
New Bern police say it happened at the West New Bern Recreation Center on Pine Tree Drive last Tuesday.
They say the victim is 17 years old and the rape happened between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. in a bathroom inside the rec center.
Police say the victim gave them a name of a possible suspect, but so far no one has been charged and the case remains under investigation.
DNA samples were taken and sent off to a lab, but police say they have not yet received the results. Those results would only be part of their investigation, according to a police spokeswoman.
