No charges will be filed in the shooting death of a New Bern man Wednesday.
A Havelock Police investigation report says 22-year-old Raymond Andrews died of a gunshot wound to the head.
The report says Andrews and a friend were looking at guns in the parking lot of the Nightmare Factory Wednesday evening around 6:30 p.m. when Andrews accidentally shot himself.
Investigators have ruled Andrews' death accidental and will not file any charges.
Police are investigating the shooting death of a man in a parking lot Wednesday night.
Havelock Police Chief Wayne Cyrus says it happened outside of 29 Park Lane, which is the address for the Nightmare Factory, a haunted house that operates in September, October and November.
The chief says no other people were involved in the shooting while others were there at the time. He says it appears to have been accidental.
The name of the 22-year-old has not yet been released, but friends identify him as Raymond Andrews.
A makeshift memorial has been set up in front of the building, while the friends say they were there Wednesday night for a planning meeting for this season's haunted house.
The friends say several of the people there, including Andrews, went out to the parking lot and were looking at a gun when they say it accidentally fired.
Chief Cyrus says he will meet with the district attorney before releasing more information.
