Plans To Fill Representative Wainwright's Seat

State Democratic party representatives have nominated someone to take over the duties of eleven term State Representative William Wainwright, who recently died.

A member of the committee to select the Democratic November ballot candidate says former New Bern alderman Barbara Lee was selected to fill the rest of the term for Wainwright, who died July 16th.

Lenoir County Board of Commisioners Chairman George Graham was selected to be the Democratic candidate on the ballot in November.

The State House District 12 seat covers Craven, Lenoir and Greene counties.

Lee's nomination goes to Governor Bev Perdue, who has seven days to endorse it. Graham's nomination goes to the State Board of Elections Chairman Larry Leake for approval.
