Family and friends are preparing to say their final goodbyes to a local father.
Deputies in Pamlico County said 24-year-old J.P. Zubia was killed dockside a week ago Thursday.
The murder happened early on the morning of February 13th at the boat ramp on Lee's Landing Road in Reelsboro, according to investigators.
Services for Zubia begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel in Alliance. Burial will follow.
So far two people have been arrested in connection to Zubia's murder: Cleveland Caraway II and Kristen Lee.
Officials said the whole thing started as a fight between two men over a woman.
A man accused of murder and a woman charged with helping him afterward went before a judge this morning in Pamlico County.
Cleveland Caraway II was arrested at his home Thursday afternoon for the murder of J.P. Zubia.
Also arrested was Kristen Lee, charged with accessory after the fact of murder, possession of heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The judge ordered the 34-year-old Caraway held without bond, while he set Lee's bond at $100,000. He told Caraway that if convicted, the maximum punished could be death.
