New Bern High School football player Bra'lon Cherry says he will head to North Carolina State to play for head coach Tom O'Brien following his senior season.
Cherry, listed as "athlete" on the New Bern football roster, helped lead the Bears to the class 4-A Eastern Regional Finals his junior season. He accounted for nearly 1,000 yards of offense and is expected to also spend a lot of playing time on the New Bern defense in 2012.
Cherry told WITN sports director Billy Weaver via Facebook "I felt like that (N.C. State) was the school for me when I went to the spring game, Felt like I fit in."
The 5'10" receiver / defensive back was also being recruited by East Carolina, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Navy and a number of other schools. Cherry says he wants to major in engineering at N.C. State.
