New Bern High Rise Bridge Back Open

The New Bern high rise bridge is back open after being shut down because of a vehicle fire.

Highway Patrol officials say a vehicle overheated and the driver left to get help. When the driver did that the vehicle burst into flames.

The fire happened around 7:30 and both directions of the bridge were closed for about 45 minutes while crews cleaned things up.

Iagree 100%. New Bern drivers are very aggresive, and have no regard for others on the highway!!!

I don't know what it is, but this particular bridge just seems to attract disasters. Wrecks happen on a pretty frequent basis, and at least once a year a really spectacular wipe out happens on it. Anyone remember the beer truck dangling over the side a couple of years ago? In fact, from that bridge all the way into the stoplights in James City, there seems to be some sort of energy field that makes people drive even dumber than they normally do.
