An Eastern Carolina woman is accused of threatening to blow up a pier in Newport News, Virginia.
Police there arrested 47-year-old Julie Ireland of New Bern Wednesday afternoon after they say she made threats to bomb the City of Newport News Pier.
Police say Ireland was first approached around 7:45 a.m. and ticketed for trespassing and littering on the posted private portion of the pier. Later that day around 2:00 p.m. police say they got a call after someone fitting Ireland's description became irate at employees who tried to help her. They say the woman threatened to obtain C4 explosives and blow up the pier.
Authorities say they discovered the woman sleeping in the middle of King Lincoln Park and she was arrested on the charge of making threats.
