A New Bern man charged with repeatedly stabbing a woman is headed to prison after pleading guilty.
Craven County District Attorney Scott Thomas says 35-year-old Carl Wesley King was sentenced to 10-14-years in prison.
Thomas says King had an argument with the female victim, and after the argument had ended, asked her to drive him to the store. They say he eventually pulled out a pocket knife and began to stab the victim repeatedly. The victim managed to stop the car and get out, and King then took the car and took off.
The victim had to be airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment of her injuries.
King is an habitual felon and was previously convicted of at least three other felony crimes.
