Moped Driver Airlifted To Vidant After Craven County Crash

The driver of a moped was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center after a crash Thursday afternoon in Craven County.

Trooper J.A. Rink says the accident happened around 1:40 p.m. at the intersection of Old Cherry Point Road and Thurman Road.

Rink says the moped driver, Michael Brown of New Bern, was northbound on Thurman Road when he stopped at the Old Cherry Point Road intersection.

The trooper says Brown failed to yield the right of way to on oncoming vehicle, driven by Mellissa Ellis of New Bern.

There is no word yet on Brown's condition.

The Highway Patrol says charges are pending in this accident.
