Man In Critical Condition After Wreck In Craven County

A man is in critical condition after a wild ride down a street in Craven County.

Highway Patrol said the accident happened around 9:30 Thursday night on Old Cherry Point Road and East Thurman Road in Craven County.

Troopers said the 48-year-old driver was traveling 85 to 90 miles per hour, switching lanes on the two lane road and forcing other drivers off the road. Troopers say he then hit a ditch, struck a utility pole and flipped upside down in a residential yard.

He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Troopers would not release his name due to his condition. They did tell us alcohol was not involved and the driver has a permanently revoked license.
