A man hit by an SUV Tuesday evening in New Bern has survived the impact and is recovering.
A spokesperson at Vidant Medical Center said 68-year-old John Monette of Fox Chase Village, was listed in fair condition at 4 a.m. Wednesday. He was airlifted to Greenville after being taken to CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern after the accident.
New Bern police say Monnette ran across South Glenburnie at the intersection of Brunswick where the Bojangles is when he was hit. The incident remains under investigation. Police say the light was green, and they do not believe speed was a factor.
