NEW INFO: No Charges Filed In Pedestrian Fatality

The Highway Patrol says the driver who struck and killed a man directing farm equipment will not face any charges.

The fatality happened Tuesday night on Asbury Road near Old Highway 70 outside of Cove City in Craven County.

Troopers say Jordan Quinn of Cove City got out of a bus hauling tobacco to direct another piece of farm equipment around their vehicle. They say John Eubanks was driving a van in the opposite direction and struck the man.

The Highway Patrol says Eubanks tried to avoid the equipment in the road. Quinn died before making it to the hospital.

A person in the road directing a caravan of farm equipment is struck by another vehicle and killed.

It happened around 8:35PM Tuesday night on Asbury Road near Old Highway 70 outside of Cove City in Craven County.

Highway Patrol Troopers says 26-year-old Jordan Quinn of Cove City got out of a bus hauling tobacco to direct another piece of farm equipment around their vehicle.

That's when a van, heading in the opposite direction, came up on the caravan.

With both pieces of equipment in the both lanes, troopers say the driver, John Eubanks, tried to avoid them but instead stuck Quinn.

Troopers say Quinn died before making it to the hospital.

The accident is still under investigation and charged haven't been filed at this time.
