With the heat index reaching 108 degrees in New Bern Friday, crews say cleaning up from last weekend's storms has been a long process.
A home on Ellington Street in New Bern had a tree branch fall through the roof. Burl Cyers of American Tree Company was having a tough time doing his job in the hot weather.
"It takes a lot out of you even if you're not doing a lot. It just zaps the energy right out of you," said Cyers.
Cyers says they've been working every single day since Sunday's storm doing repairs on homes in Craven County. He told us some days can be anywhere from 12 to 14 hours long.
