A head-on highway crash in New Bern sent four people, including a child, to the hospital Tuesday night.
Captain Ben Lewis with New Bern Police told WITN around 9 p.m. Tuesday, a car heading west along Highway 70 on the Trent Road overpass crossed over into the east-bound traffic lanes and hit another car head-on.
There was one person in the west-bound car, and three in the car that was hit. All four were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Lewis.
A stretch of Highway 70 between Glenburnie Road and the Pembroke exit was shut down for nearly two and a half hours as crews cleaned up the wreck site.
The road was reopened at 11:40 p.m., according to the NCDOT.
Police said they are not releasing the names of those involved, citing an on-going investigation, but said charges are pending as they continue to figure out what caused the west-bound car to cross over into oncoming traffic.
