Havelock Rams Could Coast Through Next Round Of Playoffs

One local high school football team might be able to coast through to the next round of the playoffs with a "bye."

The Havelock Rams defeated Southern Vance in the Class 3-A playoffs Friday, 21 to 14. However, South Brunswick, the team the Rams are matched up to play Friday, could be disqualified. Multiple media reports say three South Brunswick players were ejected from their game against Southern Wayne Friday. According to the NC High School Athletic Association policy, the ejection of three players for a fight means the team loses their playoff privileges.

The playoff bracket on the state website currently has the teams matched up with no discussion of disqualifying South Brunswick.

@anonymous 12:08 I agree. Southern Wayne is the best! Saint Saint Pride! But, you are right about the ceiling though, even the lights were shaking the other day.

As a New Bern high school football father, I wish the Havelock Rams the best of luck in their quest of a 3-A state championship. Go Bears! Go Rams!

i was at the south/southern wayne game.. the southern players were deliberately laying on south players and taunting because they were getting beat down. however this doesnt excuse both teams acting like thugs

Congratulations for the poised team Havelock Rams has become! Diddle Dolt DW is clueless! "How you respond to the challenge in the second half will determine what you become after the game, whether you are a winner or a loser."~Lou Holtz Clearly, our team is the winner! Good luck next week Rams, and bring the 3A HS Football State Title home to Havelock!

So what happened with the old quaterback when they lost to New Bern? Wasn't that the first game of the season? Someone out there must know. Please share.

I am very proud of the way Havelock has performed this year especially with all the drama from the first game. I am not even going to be pretend that I know what happened but obviously someone's ego got the better of them (whether it be the coach, the team or the player). It has been fun watching Havelock succeed when very few thought it could!

Anonymous 11:19--you've got an opinion on the coach but not good enough sense to notice that Havelock beat Conley and won their conference, while losing only one games since the big baby QB quit on the team (while losing the game that he did play). How about know the coach before getting an opinion of how he or his team is. By the way, Havelock is a Number 1 seed.
