Havelock Giving Away Free Mulch

Some debris left over from Hurricane Irene has been turned into something useful for you green thumbs.

Havelock is inviting anyone who can collect the mulch and haul it away to visit one of their two sites.

One is on the west end of Walter Jones Park on Highway 70, and the other is on the overflow parking lot at the recreation center on Highway 101. The city of Havelock says the mulch has been decomposing since August.

Again, the city requires people to bring their own tools, labor and vehicle to transport the mulch. It's available to be picked up daily between dawn and dusk.
