We have new information about the standoff in the east this week between police and an armed man.
The name of the man in the Havelock standoff is 26-year-old Michael Stokes Jr., according to the Havelock News. Police said Stokes, armed with a hunting rifle, blocked the apartment's door with a couch and threatened to do harm to himself and his family, according to the paper.
The Havelock News reports the man had recently been put out of the Marine Corps, according to police, and his wife and two children were not in the apartment with him during the standoff.
No charges have been filed yet.

A nearly 2 hour standoff between a gunman and Havelock police ended with nobody hurt.
The City of Havelock says police were called out at 7:46 p.m Tuesday to a domestic disturbance at Havelock Manor Apartments on Shipman Road and found an armed man had barricaded himself inside an apartment.
Police say the man surrendered nearly 2 hours later around 9:30 p.m. and was arrested. The suspect's name nor any details on charges have been released
Havelock Police are still investigating. Nobody was injured.
