Troopers are on the scene of a wreck along Highway 17 North in Craven County, which closed part of that road earlier.
Trooper M.C. Eure said around 6:30 Tuesday morning, 49-year-old Roscoe Linton of Pollocksville was driving north along Highway 17 near Alligator Road when he fell asleep at the wheel.
Trpr. Eure said Linton veered left and crossed the center line, hitting a tractor trailer.
Investigators said the tractor trailer ended up in a field off the road and Linton's car was still on the highway.
Linton will be charged with driving left of center, according to troopers.
Trpr. Eure said both Linton and the driver of the tractor trailer "miraculously walked away" with no injuries after the wreck.
