Guardrail Recommended For Cove City Curve

The NC DOT has put in a recommendation to have a guardrail put in at a curve on Highway 55 in Cove City.

The curve is where a man died after a wreck and his young daughter was trapped in the car for two days in December.

The NC DOT tells WITN it has made the recommendation that a guardrail be added and is now waiting for funding approval from the state. We're told that could take months.

We hear about toll roads an other things. Why does the DOT need funding for our saftey as drivers. It seems the state gets the money an as always spends it on something else. My aunt died at HWY 258 an Stantsburg road. There is still no four way stop there. How about help us out with the tax money we pay.

Those curves on Hwy 55 in the Fort Barnwell area are very sudden and hard to judge in the dark. I drive slower than 55mph at night on that stretch of road. Call me timid, but I'm still alive.

I call you a 'smart' driver. Drive for the conditions, and slow down, use dimmers, when necessary.
